Zusammenfassung:21,581. Nield, S., and Osborne, E. A., [executors of Drew, A.]. Oct. 27. Hinges and pivots.- In spring forks for cycles &c. or analogous link-work mechanism, wear is taken up or looseness avoided by the provision of a spring or spring means operating in conjunction with one or more coned or inclined surfaces. The invention refers more particularly to the kind of spring fork which is connected to the steering-head by links. As shown, two disks a coned on their adjacent surfaces are disposed between the end of the bearing-boss b and the face of the link c, and in the V-sectioned annular space between the disks is arranged a contractile C or other spring d tending to force the disks apart. The spring used with the coned disks at one end of a link may be associated with that used with the disks at the other end of the link, and for this purpose the spring member may be in the form of two wire or like parts which extend throughout the length of the link and are banded or connected together centrally, their ends being arranged to engage with the V-grooves between the disks. The spring may also be such as to operate by expansion instead of contraction, in which case the V-shaped groove would be formed in the reverse direction.
