Fastenings, suction.-A suction device for affixing a mask for protecting parts of a surface from paint or the like comprises a tubular piece e attached to the mask a and having a. plunger c carrying the suction pad b, the plunger being normally held as shown in Fig. 4 by a spring g. To apply the device to a surface, the plunger is pressed inwards and then released, the spring then adjusting the suction pad to the position shown in Fig. 5. Alternatively the spring may be replaced by a screw.
