Apparatus or Means for Automatically Stopping Gramophones and like Machines

Periodic.-The sound-arm of a gramophone or the like automatically applies by toggle action a brake to the rotating table of the machine when the arm reaches the position it occupies at the termination of a record. The sound-arm i carries by means of a clip k a stud g, which operates a lever c so that, when the end of the record is reached, a brake shoe l on the end of the lever presses on the rotating table a. The tendency of the table to rotate further carries the brake shoe in the direction which will enhance the braking pressure. The brake is automatically released when the sound-arm is moved in the opposite direction.
