Zusammenfassung:9619. Burkard, P. May 5, 1913, [Convention date]. Sliver-rubbing apparatus.-The alternating movements of the rubbers are controlled by opposing springs acting in such a manner that the force of the springs can be regulated. The rubbers are mounted upon rollers 3, 4, 5, 6 carried by cross - members 15, 16, which are reciprocated by a crank 17, connecting-rod 18, rocking-shaft 20, and links 22, 23. Springs 37 are secured to the ends of the arms of a lever 42, which carries a quadrant 45 engaging a pinion 46 rotated by a chain 48 attached to levers 49, 50, rocking about knife-edge pivots and operated by the members 15, 16. The position of the points of attachment of the chain 48 to the levers 49, 50 may be varied, and the springs may be displaced along the arms of the lever 42. The supports of all the upper rubbers and of all the lower rubbers are connected to the cross-members 15, 16 by laths, and the whole is arranged to move on ball bearings.
