Sulphatizing; treating ores preparatory to extracting precious metals. - Ores containing copper as sulphide or metal, and a gangue containing aluminium such as feldspar, are roasted so as to produce aluminium sulphate from the gangue for use in the wet extraction of the copper as sulphate. The Specification also includes the extraction of copper sulphate from raw or roasted copper ores by means of aluminium sulphate and sulphuric acid. The insoluble residues when containing precious metals are suitable for cyaniding. Specification 4658/14, [Class 1(iii), Oxides &c., Metallic], is referred to.
