Zusammenfassung: | 22,956. Smith, A., and Tickner, G. Oct. 11. Cigarette-making machines.-In a cigarettemaking machine of the tube-filling type, the tobacco y is rolled by a slide b, having a projecting edge b , over a fluted base-plate a and compressed between the slide b and a fixed plate d. The slide is operated by a lever c and link c . so arranged that the pressure on the tobacco is slightly relieved by causing the lever c to pass the dead-centres of the link and lever, an adjustable limiting-stop c being provided. The plunger k is then operated, pressing the tobacco into the paper shell f clipped on to the spout f , a spring-controlled rod m being provided which is operated by the collar k just before the completion of the stroke of the plunger to release the paper-shell clip g by means of a projection m and allow the completed cigarette to be discharged. The rod m carries an arm m which prevents the tobacco from being forced too far through the paper shell. To commence a fresh operation, the slide b is drawn back, causing a cam-plate n to depress an arm h attached to a rod h, to the other end of which is secured another arm h , which releases the paper-shell clip g to allow a fresh paper shell to be placed in position. |
