Zusammenfassung: | 22,041. Ray, M. B., and Henderson, E. K. Sept. 30. Spring wheels with continuous outer rigid ring and metal springs, or pneumatic, rubberring, and like cushions; spokes, securing and adjusting.-Relates to wheels of the kind in which piston-and-cylinder cushions directly connect the hub and rim. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 4, rods 3 have flattened resilient outer parts 35 gripped between bracing-flanges 33 formed on channel-shaped " keepers " fixed to the felloe. The screwed extremity of the rod passes through an aperture and is held by a nut 38. The inner end of the rod is fitted with a piston engaging a cylinder which is closed by a gland and pivoted between integral and detachable side plates on the hub on bolts 19. The two plates are formed with alternating transverse webs 9, 14 forming compartments which carry two resilient blocks 23 for each cylinder. In the form shown in Figs. 10 and 11, the pneumatic cylinder is replaced by a helical spring carried in a square framework 30. The rod is reduced to pass through the spring, and the shoulder 36 so formed bears on its end through a guide member 32 moving on rods 27 connecting the frame with a base-plate 21 pivoted at 19 to the hub plates. |
