Azo dyes are obtained by combining diazo, diazoazo, or tetrazo compounds, or intermediate products from one molecule of a totrazo compound and one molecule of an azo dye component, for example benzidine-azo-salicylic acid, with the condensation products from aminonaphthols or their sulphonic acids and sulphochlorides of o-phenolcarboxylic acids described in Specification 22,854/13. Monoazo dyes are specified from the following components: - 1-naphthylamine-5-sulphonic acid and salicylsulpho-1 : 7-aminonaphthol, 1-naphthylamine-4- sulphonic acid and salicylsulpho-2:7-aminonaphthol, aniline and salicylsulpho-1:8-aminonaphthol-3:6-disulphonic acid, o-toluidine and salicylsulpho-2 : 5-aminonaphthol-7-sulphonic acids. These products dye wool bordeaux, red, and orange shades which may be after-chromed; the last two products mentioned above can also be printed on cotton with chromium acetate.
