High resistances for use in connexion with wireless telegraphy and telephony are formed by winding bifilar wires a, a on a series of concentric tubes b, the ends of each layer being brought out through a slot in one of the cheeks c and connected in series. The spacing of the wires and of the layers is determined so that the complete coil is non-reactive, the excessive inductance of the inner layers being balanced by the excessive capacity of the outer layers.
