Zusammenfassung: | 12,056. Squire, H. A. May 23. Pivot adjustments.-The pivot of a looking- glass or similarly pivoted article is constructed so as to have some ftexibility to improve its grip in the socket and is formed by pressing-up from the sides of an attachment plate a pair of lugs, which are brought towards each other centrally in front of the plate to form a neck and are then turned outwards, the outwardly-turned portions being approximately semicircular in shape to form the bearing-portion of the pivot. The semicircular portions are preferably cupped, or they may be pressed to form the two halves of a ball-fitting. A spring may be provided to increase the flexibility of the pivot. The socket a, Fig. 1, is of the usual tapered form. In the form of pivot shown in Figs. 1, 3, and 4, the bearing-part of the pivot comprises a pair of semicircular lugs f which may be provided with stop lugs g to limit the turning movement. Figs. 7, 10, 13, and 16 show pivots with cup-shaped parts f. In Fig. 7, a strip spring i is provided, and in Fig. 10, a disk j is arranged between the parts f. In Fig. 13, a coiled spring p is held in position by a disk q and pin r. In Fig. 16, a strip spring i engages two semicircular plates s inserted in the parts f. |
