Zusammenfassung: | 8646. Wrightham, F., and Wrightham, C. W. April 12. Rollers for washing, wringing, and like machines are made of concrete, artificial stone, &c. The material may be uniform throughout or may comprise a centre a, Fig. 4, of coarse material and an outer layer b of fine material. The material used is preferably (i) coke breeze and cement for light rollers, and (ii) furnace slag and cement for heavy rollers. A suitable mould comprises two semi-cylinders c, Fig. 1, with end caps f, provided with holes h for accommodating the spindle i, Fig. 4. The part of the spindle within the roller is of square section. Alternatively, the roller may be moulded with holes in each end for the accommodation of short spindles. For heavy use the rollers may be reinforced with wire, rods, or the like. The rollers may be moulded with a matt surface, or moulded in the rough and afterwards smoothed up. |
