Reducing - valves. - Air is supplied at constant pressure from the compressed - air holders of a motor vehicle to the motor cylinders through a reducing- valve shown in Fig. 2. The pressure of air in the interior of the holder tends to force the valve on to its seating 2, this tendency being resisted by a spring 7 which abuts at one end against the adjustable flange 8, and at the other end bears against a guide ring 6 secured to the valve rod and sliding in the casing 3. The pressure of air supplied to the motor cylinders is thus kept practically constant, but can be varied by adjusting the flange 8 by means of a hand-wheel 11. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 2733/70. |
