Composition fuel.-Nitro-cellulose or a substance containing it, such as celluloid, or nitrated wood-pulp or cotton waste, is used as a binder for coal, coke, or peat dust or other granular combustible material, pitch, tar, resin, or other hydrocarbon material being added or not. The binder is dissolved in a solvent, which is subsequently wholly or partly evaporated. In an example, stated proportions of benzol, acetone, nitro-cellulose, and pitch are mixed with coal, and the product left after about half of the volatile matters have evaporated is briquetted and dried.
