Stopping pipes and tubes.-- A gas-main stopper comprises an elastic expansible disk b, Figs. 1 and 3, having at its upper end a hook -shaped handle b adapted to bear against the side of an aperture a in the main and provided at its lower end with linked rods b', b terminating with a handle b . The stopper is inserted in the main through the aperture a with the rods b4, b straightened out, as shown in dotted lines, and after the disk b has been placed in position, the rods b4, b are moved backwards until the disk stands vertically in the main. The framing of the disk consists of top and bottom members b , b connected by spring bands b and a telescoping rod b and tube b . The spring bands b are stiffened by additional bands b , and are provided with a tubular covering of leather &c., the enclosed space being filled up with cloth or the like b having vertical folds. |
