Lactose.-The fat is extracted from dried milk by a solvent, and on treatment of the residue with water and filtering, a solution of albumen, phosphates, and lactose is obtained. The albumen is precipitated by carbon dioxide, and after evaporating, centrifuging to obtain lactose directly, and boiling the mother liquor with alcohol, a solution of phosphates is obtained, lactose remaining.
