Zusammenfassung:22,759. Ferguson, W., and Ferguson, D. R. Oct. 6. Reversing-gearing.-Relates to reversing-gearing, suitable for marine propulsion, of the type comprising a coned clutch member C secured to a driving-shaft B and connected to a toothed gear E', a corresponding member D secured to a driven shaft A and connected to a gear E, and planetary gears E meshing with the gears E, E and connected to a coned member H which may be slid into engagement with a coned surface J' inside a fixed casing J. Bevel-gearing is used, and the member C is connected to the gear E by arms F extending from the gear between guide projections G so as to form a lost-motion coupling. This device allows the arms F tu move longitudinally along with the toothed gearing E', E', E and the members D, H when the shaft A is slid longitudinally by an operating-lever K. When the shaft A is slid to the left, the member D engages the member C, and a direct drive is effected. On sliding the shaft A to the right, the member H is caught by the surfaces J', and radial spindles I carrying the gears E are held stationary. Power then passes through the coupling G to the gear E , and through the gears E to the gear E and shaft A, which are driven reversely.
