Zusammenfassung:2494. Ellis, T., Purvis, G. H., and Creech, J. S. Feb. 2. Road-contouring apparatus. - An automatic track apparatus for tracing a continuous record of the gauge of the rails and the superelevation of one of the rails, is provided with two styles to mark the record strip, which is advanced by gearing from the track wheel. One style is actuated by a telescopic shaft having wheels on its ends engaging the rails, the other style being moved by a pendulum which slides the shaft to which the style is secured. The pendulum 17, Fig. 3, carries a yoke, which engages the rod 21 and is adapted to move the rod lengthways, a dash-pot 26 being provided at the other end to act as a buffer. Rigidly mounted on the rod 21 is a carriage 28, Fig. 5, slidable on two other rods 27, and having a pivoted arm which carries the style 30 spring- pressed on the recording-strip. The recording- drum mounted on the casing 25 is rotated from a track-wheel through worm gearing, its spindle driving the drum through a friction clutch. A similar style is actuated by the telescopic shafts to which the track-wheels are attached so as to give a record of the variations of the gauge of the rails.
