Zusammenfassung: | 25,023. Edwards, H. A. Nov. 20. Cradles.-Relates to cradles or cots for children, comprising a collapsible bed portion and a folding stand or frame, and consists in a modified construction and arrangement of parts. Each end frame comprises a vertical member 3, to which are pivoted two legs 2. The frames are connected by cross braces 11 and by a pair of horizontal open frames 7 hinged on a longitudinal rod 10 and pivotally connected to the legs 2. The ends of the rod 10 move in slots in the vertical member 3, and may be secured by wing-nuts 21. The cradle body consists of a number of curved laths pivoted at their extremities to ears 16 on metal brackets 14 and connected by transverse strips of webbing &c. The brackets 14 are suspended by rods, straps, cords, &c., from hooks secured to the end frames, and the outer laths are similarly suspended by links 18. The stand is collapsed by lifting the hinge rod 10, the frames 7 folding upwards, and the legs 2 swinging inwards around the pivots 6. The brackets 14 are shaped so as to move freely in an upward direction over the suspension rods 17. The cradle may be prevented from rocking by inserting a wedge between the cradle bottom and the bar 10, or by lifting the bar 10 into contact with the cradle and spragging the legs 2. |
