Doors, carriage. -Sliding doors for railway vehicles and the like are hung from a channel - iron rail k by means of a glass runner or bar d fixed in a rail c secured to the top of the door by brackets b. The glass bar d is fixed in the rail c by means of a wooden strip e, rubber strip f, and metallic strip g, and slides on a hard wooden strip i in the bottom of the rail k. To prevent rattling, the space between the sliding bar d and the rail k are packed with wooden strips m covered with velvet. The lower edge of the door is provided with a metal-lined groove o running on a rail q on the floor. |
