Zusammenfassung: | 11,347. Merz, C. H., and Redman, S. G. May 25. Electric railways and the like on the third-rail system. Conductors. - The heads of third or conductor rails are formed with a thickened portion the under surface of which is the contact surface. Fig. I shows one form of rail protected by wood planking 5, 6, 7, 8, the underside 4 forming the working or contact surface. The base plank 8 is supported at intervals by sole plates 9, and is secured thereto by rivets or bolts 10. Clamps 11 attached to insulators 12 support the sole plates, and the conductor rails are attached to the planking 8 by clips 13 or by screws or spikes. If desired, the plank 8 may be extended and a strip similar to 7 attached to it. In a modified construction of third rail, the upper part or head is formed separate and secured to the base part by rivets. |
