Improvements in Mechanism for Feeding Materials to be Operated Upon through Punching and like Machines

8717. Mosscrop, A. M., and Ennis, L. April 21. Punching; slotting.- Plates, angles, &c. are fed to punching, slotting, and like machines to be operated upon at predetermined intervals. The plates &c. 7, 8 are held at each end by grippers 10, 6 pivoted on bars 58 mounted on carriages 5, 9, which run on rails 4 at each side of the punching or like machine 2. The carriage 9 is fed by a rack and pinion operated by handwheel 11, the positions for punching &c. being determined by a spring- pressed pin 16 bearing against projections 28 on adjustable stops 27. Each. stop] consists of a [split nut 34 screwing on the fixed shaft 25 and - surrounded by a clamping-collar 27. Supporting- rollers 36 and guiding - rollers 39, 40, mounted on arms 41 connected by a spring 43, may be employed.
