Letter-boxes and like receiving-devices; collecting- boxes.-A box a for receiving milk, letters, newspapers, &c., and adapted to be secured to a street door or in the wall of a house, is provided with a hinged door c secured by a fastening-device, and a rear door d opened from the house. A tray d' is provided to facilitate the removal of the milk vessel. A sliding bolt e, actuated by a handle e', slides in guides f on the door and engages a recess g in the wall of the box. A pivoted catch k, actuated by a spring k , is arranged above the slide-bolt and may be maintained in the raised position by a second sliding bolt n movable by a handle p. An extension q on the sliding-bolt e is arranged to bear against the handle p. When the goods have been delivered, the tradesman shoots the bolt e by the handle e and the locking-catch falls into operative position, the bolt n having been pushed back during the act of opening the door c. The box may be divided into compartments and may have a number of doors.
