Zusammenfassung: | 16,256. McNab, N. S., and Link, J. S. July 15. Time-checking apparatus for workmen and the like. The casing has a door 3 hinged at the bottom and a side door 4 locked by a pin 77 on the door 3, and has two interior walls 98, 99 separating the printing and operating mechanism from the supply and winding-on rolls for the record-strip, the time and printing mechanism being carried in the middle part above the record-strip. The clock drives through a clutch 18, 19, Fig. 1, and gearing 15, 16, the pinion 17, to which is secured a sleeve 26 fast to the minute-wheel 13. Loose on the pinion 17 is the hour-wheel 27, a pinion 28 on which is driven once an hour by a pin 29 on the pinion 16, when the pin lifts a locking pawl 30 pivoted to the frame, by engaging its cam-surface 31. The type-wheels print the breadth of two elements as shown, and alternate numbers are fitted so that the time can be recorded for every minute, the readings shown at c and d being 9.29 and 9.32 respectively. The operating - handle drives the spindle through a pawl disk 62 and ratchet-wheel 61. The spindle has a crank 54 for operating the swinging bar 56, which actuates the feed-pawlcarrying oscillating segment 57 and through the slot and roller 55, 68 the arm 67, which operates the bent hanger 21 carrying the inking-rollers 11, and also operates the platen by means of the lever 75, the impression being adjustable by means of a slot-and-nut connexion 73 between the two parts 44, 75 of the lever. The parts are held in normal position by springs 64, 65 acting on the crank 54. The platen consists of a pad 33 mounted in the plunger 34 which also supports the table 41 over which the paper passes ; the table carries a guiding- roller 40, the plunger 34 sliding in the guide block 45 and being normally held against the slot 43 by the spring 46. The paper is guided over the plate 36 under the writing-aperture 10, the plate being turned up as shown inside the partition 98 so as to prevent tampering with the mechanism. A spring- controlled lever 80 is adapted to hold the feed pawl off its ratchet when the door 4 is open, but is raised from engagement with the pawl by a lug 79 on the door when this is closed. The winding-on roll spindle is slotted to take a pivoted spring or bar 49, Fig. 3, under which the paper is clipped, the bar being locked by turning a slotted collar 51. A spring 83 on the door 4 acts as a brake for the winding-on roll. Instead of rollers, a pad 69 may be fitted for inking the type, |
