Folding-instruments; sewing-mac h i n e s, guiding materials in.-An attachment is described for folding bands or the like and guiding them under the needle for stitching them to a garment. The guide A, Fig. 1, consists of two bars a , a , slightly inclined to one another to form a tapered opening and carrying two distance-pieces B adjustable by screws. The guide A is detachably connected to a bar C, which is attached to the presser-foot of the machine by a clip D secured in a slot c , thus allowing for adjustment to suit different machines. To fold the material forming the band, the guide A is first detached from the bar C, and the front end of the material is folded between the distance-pieces, which are adjusted to the desired width. The guide is then pushed along the material by an iron, thus folding it as it passes along. The guide is then attached to the bar C and the distance-pieces are adjusted to guide the material under the needle as required.
