Zusammenfassung: | 10,843. Brough, H. May 9. Sharpening.-A sharpener for knives and the like, of the type in which blades or sharpening- elements are arranged in tandem or fore and aft of each other' with their acting surfaces at an angle to one another, is constructed as shown. The two blades a, b are arranged longitudinally in the holder c, of wood or other suitable material, and at a short distance apart with their acting surfaces crossing one another in the V-shaped slit d in the holder. The blades are removably held by screws f arranged one at each side of the holder. The knife is sharpened by moving it to and fro in the slit d over the blades a, b, and a surface e of emery paper or the like may be provided on the holder for finishing off the article after sharpening. The slit d', with a portion of the blade b passing therethrough, is used for sharpening articles, such as scissors and shears, which cannot be passed into the slid d. A bracket may be provided for clamping the holder to a table or other article. |
