Links 5 of soft brass, malleable iron, or the like are cast with a tenon 6 and a mortise 8 with flaring sides. Bosses 10 are provided on the sides 8 and cavities 11 in the tenon 6. The ends of the sides 8 are bevelled as shown at 9 to fit within depressions behind projections 7. In assembling the links, they are turned at right angles as in Fig. 1, the sides 8 pressed inward, the bosses 10 engaging the cavities 11, and finally they are turned into line. The tenon and mortise of each link are shown at right-angles but may be at any angle. The shaft is enclosed in the usual casing. |
