Zusammenfassung: | 8913. Bumpstead, E. T., and Gover, H. C. April 17. Switches. - The contact-arm of an electric switch is actuated by a closing-lever which is connected by a toggle-link with the short arm of a bellc r a n k lever, the long arm of which constitutes the actuating - handle. The contact-bridge b is insulated from and carried by a cast - iron arm d pivoted on a pin d , which is carried by brackets e, and on which is also pivoted a closing- lever g adapted to engage a spring- pressed catch h on the arm d. The closing-lever g is connected by a toggle-link l to the short arm m of a bell-crank lever pivoted at m, the longer arm m of which serves as the actuating-handle. A spring f, hooked on to pins f on the arm d and brackets e, is always under tension when the switch is closed, and gives a quick break when the circuit is broken. The toggle, shown as slightly overset, may be broken either by the handle m or by tipping the catch h by means of a tappet i on a rocking shaft i , which may be oscillated by pressing a button j' on one arm of a bell-crank lever j on the shaft i , or by the plunger of an electro-magnet displacing a pin on the other arm of the lever on an overload. |
