Corkscrews.-Relates to a construction of corkscrews, in which the screw is driven into the cork by twisting the handle backwards and forwards. A shank a, carrying a screw b, is loosely mounted in a handle h, and is provided at its lower extremity with a flange c, having formed therein notches d, which are engaged by a pawl, pivoted to the inside of a collar i, which surrounds the lower end of a sleeve e, secured to the handle h. The sleeve, e is notched at its bottom to embrace the head of the pawl, and is provided with a spring catch j, adapted to engage a hole l in the shank a, and lock the screw b to facilitate the removal of the cork. |
