Loom picking-sticks, checking.-Braking-surfaces and flexible or resilient buffers are combined with the under whip-pick motion of looms, such as described in Specification No. 26,323, A.D. 1902, to provide means for checking the picking-arms. The buffer l is carried by a shoe k adjustably secured to the bracket k, and is placed to engage the picking-arm d or a supplementary arm on the picking-shaft at the end of its effective stroke. The motion of the arm d is also checked by two leather straps m, secured to the lug k and brought close together at that end. The opposite ends are separated and secured to an adjustable stud mounted in the bracket n . The straps may be arranged not to rub against the arm d for a part of its movement, and may be replaced by a spring plate or plates or other equivalent devices. Either the buffer or the straps may be used separately.
