Zusammenfassung: | 6062. Topham, C. F. March 22. Spindle apparatus.-A rotating box C, constituting an improvement on that described in Apecification No. 23,158, A.D. 1900, for twisting and laying threads, fibres, or filaments in coil form, is preferably constructed of enamelled sheet iron and of cone shape, and fits around a plate B of ebonite &c. taking over a raised centre a of a base-plate A secured to a revolving spindle. The box is secured to the base A by a ring D provided with a milled or serrated circumference, such ring bearing on a beading c on the box and screwing on to the base or a bayonet joint fastening or spring bolts may be employed. A radial slit is made in the plate B so that the centrifugal force causes it to fit tightly within the box. The box is filled through the opening c, and is then removed and the plate B withdrawn so that the coils may be formed directly into skeins, injury to the coils by handling being thus avoided. Perforations a in the box facilitate escape of moisture, or the box may be made of reticulated material, for example wirework. |
