Litters, ambulance.-A folding stretcher is formed of two steel side poles A, Fig. 2, jointed at the middle and provided with jointed distance-pieces R near the ends to keep the side poles apart. Legs, hinged to collars N fixed to the side poles, are provided and the whole is covered with canvas V in which are formed pockets W for the reception of a pillow. The hinge is formed of two bearing- piects F, G, Fig. 6, which are recessed to receive side-plates D, E, through which pass pins H provided with nuts J. The bearing-surfaces L, on coming together, prevent sagging at the joint.
