The pin 5 passes through the cup 4 and plate 1 attached to the mirror &c. Its end 16 is riveted over the washer 17 sunk in a recess in the back of the plate, while its tapering T-shaped head 9, 23 engages in a corresponding slot of the part 12 fixed to the stand. The square neck 13 of the pin 5 passes through a square hole in the face of the cup 4 so that these two parts rotate together against the action of a compressed coiled spring 15. The movement of the parts is limited by a projection 18 on the plate 1 which engages the ends of a slot in the rim of the cup. The cup 4 and pivot 5 may be cast in one piece, or the cup may be replaced by a disc with projections to limit the movement of the mirror &c.
