Zusammenfassung:9906. Rosenbau=, W. A. May 22, A.D. 1903, [date applied fnr under Patents Act, A.D. 1901]. Copying-presses.-In a copying-press worked by fluid, preferably water, at a low pressure, the fluid is admitted to the lower ends of two cylinders 5, held in strong casings 6, fixed by bolts 3 to a bearing-plate 2 and frames 1, through a threeway cock 20, preferably operated by a long stem 21 from a handle at the upper surface of the press, and through branch pipes 18. The packed pistons 7 force upwards the loose ends of the levers 9, passing through slots 10 in the upper parts of the cylinders 5, each lever 9 bearing on a fulcrum 8 fixed to the opposite side of the opposite cylinder and having a series of sockets 12 to lift the ends of different-sized equalizing-levers 11, so that the upward pressure at the bearing 15 may be kept approximately the same in spite of the varying pressures in different mains. The pressure is transmitted through a knob 13 held on a pin 14 passing through a hole in the equalizing-lever 11, to the platen 16 in such a manner that the platen accommodates itself to any inequalities in the copying-book, and exerts a practically uniform pressure all over the surface, this result being in part attained by means of a flexible or rubber ring or cushion 17, surrounding the knob 13.
