Food for animals.-A food for poultry, game, &c. is compounded of gentian-root, cumin-seed, aniseed, fenugreek, sulphate of soda, powdered oyster or similar shells, maw-seed, and wheat, maize, or other cereal. The ingredients are ground and mixed, and the compound is allowed to stand in metal or earthenware vessels for at least seven days before packing. The Provisional Specification states that, for young birds, the maw-seed and cumin-seed may be dispensed with.
