Zusammenfassung: | 1946. Gray, C. H., and Sloper, T. Jan. 26. Tyres, pneumatic; felloes or rims.-In means for securing a tyre cover to a wheel rim, each edge of the cover is formed with a doublebeaded edge, adapted to enter a groove in a metal rim secured on the felloe and a similar groove in a metal side-plate. In the form shown in Fig. 1, a metal rim B with channelled edges B is secured to a felloe A of hexagonal section, to which the side-plates C are secured by bolts E. The tyre is built of cords D embedded in rubber, and in canvas D if desired, wires or staples F being placed through the looped ends to stiffen the beads D'. In a modification, the bolts E may be replaced by curved metal clamping-pieces, which are secured inside the felloe, so as to embrace the side-plates C, by means of bolts which pass through the felloe and also secure the rim B in position ; or, in some forms, the clamping-device may be dispensed with, the sideplate being secured by the pull of the outer cover, which causes them to bear tightly against the inner inclined faces of the felloe. In modifications, one of the side-plates may be permanently fixed to the felloe, or the felloe may be dispensed with, the central portion of the rim B being bent inwardly to receive the spokes. |
