25,035. Borden, B., and Neracher, W. A. Nov. 17. Screwing.-Relates to adjustable dies for use in stocks or screwing-machines for pipes and the like. Figs. 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 show a hand-stock consisting of a block, having parallel side-walls 2, top and bottom walls 3 and a bottom 5, in which there is a central opening to receive the work, and sideopenings 5 for the escape of cuttings &c. The dies 6, provided with chasers 7, are placed in the space formed by the walls 2,3. They have inclined sides to receive the adjusting-piece 10 and are grooved at 8, Fig. 2, to receive flanges 14, Fig. 3, on the piece 10. The dies fit below plates 9 screwed to the walls 3, and a screw 15 holds the pin 10 in place. The pin 10 is provided with an adjustable screwed stop 16 to determine the position of the dies after they have been opened to remove them from a finished article. In the case of a machine, the adjusting-piece may be positioned by a handlever.
