Zusammenfassung:20,220. Bromhead, S. S., [Vending Machine Co.]. Sept. 19. Sale apparatus for newspapers and periodicals or folded articles of merchandise having rounded edges. Casings ; storage.-The rectangular tall casing 4 has a hinged lid to be secured by a padlock, and presents a vertical slot in the front 4 to which there is a door, kept shut by a flange on the lid. A bundle of papers introduced at the top is lowered to shelves 21, 22 without disarrangement by the filler having his arm in the slot. The available cross-section of the case is adapted to the size of the papers, and friction is reduced by means of upright rods 31, 34 on the side walls and by hinged bars 36 at the back which are sot forward to suit by a yoke 40 and a strap 42 from a clamping- screw 44. Delivery mechanism.-The rear shelf 21 being fixed, the front one 22 forms part of a drawer 14 suspended by links 17, 18 so that it can be worked by a handle 16. In the outward stroke of the drawer, the papers become supported in front by an intermediate shelf 23, which is hinged in it and is held up by wires 25 from collars 26 on the suspending links 17. In the return stroke the front shelf parts the lowest paper from the next one so that it can be pulled out by a hand at the aperture 13 under the drawer. The collars 26 on the suspending links can be shifted by screws 28 to set the hinged shelf suitably for papers of different thickness. A link 19 connects the drawer to an arm 20 on a rock-shaft 12 which is only free to act after prepayment. Fraud, preventing.-The extraction of the papers when the drawer is out is prevented by a hinged rake 45 having a cam-slot 52 engaging with a pin 51 on the drawer so that it is brought down upon the hinged shelf after the front one has passed.
