Zusammenfassung: | 18,810. Downing, J. S. Sept. 1. Filing papers.-Relates to a file for letters and other papers in which the piercing-bow on to which the papers are filed may be turned back so as to lie flat against the apron, and to arrangements for holding the bow in its open or closed position. The bow B is mounted on a metal plate A which is cut so as to form spring tongues a , a . The top a of the plate projects above the apron, the centre part of the projection being cut and turned up and pierced to form a bearing for the pivoted base 0 of the bow. A projection a on the bottom of the plate is similarly turned up to provide the other bearing. The base C is formed of a square solid rod, or of sheet metal formed into a channel or hollow square section, the ends being formed into tubular pivots c , c which are sprung into the bearings. The tongues a , a bear against one or other of the square sides of the base, and hold the bow at right-angles to, or against, the apron. The opening part b of the bow is fixed to a saddlepiece E which is pivoted to the base C, and the spring tongue a' bears against one or other of the edges e', e of the saddle-piece, and holds the bow open or closed. |
