Line-throwing apparatus.-Line-throwing apparatus, especially for communicating with a ship or a burning building, consists of a pistol, gun, or cannon having chambers on one or both sides for containing the line, one end of which is attached to the front of the projectile. In the form shown, the coils z of line are contained in two cylindrical chambers c arranged at the sides of a pistol a and having central apertures c in their front conical ends canddetachable covers d at their rear ends. One end of each line is attached, preferably, to the chamber, and the other end is connected by a spring catch and an eye y to the wooden or weighted projectile, which may be illuminated if desired.
