Improvements in and relating to Tyres for Vehicles

4479. Fitzgerald, J. H. W. Feb. 25. Tyres, pneumatic &c.-Relates to improvements in the tyre described in Specification No. 1282, A.D. 1903. The through holding-bolts and the metallic band are dispensed with. A flexible band C of suitable material, carrying projecting metallic studs a, fits round the tyre or an attached seating in a central groove c or two side grooves c , or (as shown) a central groove c with side grooves c . The edges c of the groove c are dovetailed, undercut, or otherwise shaped to engage with the enlarged edges b of the band C, which have each a core b of fabric or the like. In light forms of tyres all grooving may be dispensed with.
