Non-fouling Composition for Marine Hulls

3023. Piper, C. T. W. Feb. 9. Antifouling paints.-An antifouling paint for ships, piles, woodwork, &c. consists of any copper ore, such as the sulphide, the carbonate, or the oxide, finely ground and mixed with ground arsenical mundic, and made up with any suitable medium. Tar may be used as the medium for a black paint, but when the paint has to be brought to a particular colour, by the addition of a pigment, a solution of resin in a hydrocarbon oil with a little india-rubber solution to toughen it, is used, with litharge or other dryer.
