Motor road vehicles.-Comprises motor road vehicle and other band or strap brakes, adapted to act equally in either direction of revolution of the brake drum. The two ends of the brake strap c are connected to levers a, b, which may either be both pivoted on the same stud h, as shown in Fig. 2, or each pivoted separately, as in another modification described in the Specification. Between the two levers is a stop e. The brake is applied by a pull being simultaneously exerted on the two levers, one or other of the levers coming against the stop e and holding one end of the strap fixed according to the direction of revolution. The pull may be transmitted to the brake levers a, b from the connector l through a rocking yoke i and rods m, as shown in Fig. 3, or through wire-rope connectors m passing over a pulley carried by the brake-actuating pedal, as shown in Fig. 4. |
