Zusammenfassung:14,625. Cuthbertson, W. July 1. Deck-seats.-The object is to provide deck and like outdoor seats with a dry seat in wet weather. A sheet-metal box C, of the same width as the seat A, is bolted with its top side immediately below the outer edge of the seat, and contains one or more waterproof aprons D. One end of these aprons is secured to a rod or points near the top of the front side of the box while the other passes over a rod F, terminates in a loop G enclosing a rod I, and is provided with a flap H ; each apron passing round a roller weight E. The apron D is pulled out of the box C until it covers the seat A, and is kept in this position by the occupant of the seat, being drawn back into the box C by the weight E, when the seat is quitted, until stopped by the loop G bearing against, and so closing, the top of the box C. In the case of reversible seats, the apron D of one seat may be used as a knee cover by a person occupying the seat behind, and the boxes C are joined by a link G. The aprons D are preferably made of cloth or felt, proofed on one or both sides, and, to prevent their adhering to the surfaces of the seat, they are provided with fluted or roughened surfaces, or the seat may be roughened. The boxes C are open at the ends, and the front sides are hinged upon a pin J or are otherwise removable.
