12,429. Heidenstam, W. A. G. von. May 31. Moulding briquettes.-In apparatus for compressing fuel briquettes, at high temperature, provision is made for escape of the gases formed. The press-chamber or tube 1, Figs. 1, 2, and 3, is perforated by longitudinal slits 3, 4, 5 of varying length and most numerous at the outlet end. Rings 13 strengthen the tube, which is coned at its extremity and clamped by a ring 6 and screws 7 to the heating- jacket 8. The head 11 of the press piston 10 has apertures communicating with a channel 12. Through these and through the slits in the tube the gases pass off. The press-piston 10 may have a conical point or points 14, which form gas-escape holes in the end briquettes. In another form, all the gas escapes by perforations into a central fixed tube, passing through the press-tube and piston.
