11,766. Turner, E. J., and McLeish, P. R. May 23. Calendering and pressing.-Relates to guards for the cylinders of laundry machines, paper making or printing machines, &c. The roller j, Fig. 1, is gently pressed against the cylinder a by springs k, which bear upon bolts h resting on the gudgeons i and are mounted in sockets g. The adjusting- wheels m are secured in position by nuts n. Instead of hand-wheels m, bevel-wheels may be used gearing with wheels on a spindle so that they are operated simultaneously. Fig. 4 shows the roller j pressed against the cylinder a by the arm o governed by the spring and nut m. Counterbalance weights may be used instead of springs.
