10,908. Carle, F. May 13. Reels, rod. - Relates to line guards to prevent cutting or chafing of the line as its enters or leaves the reel, and to facilitate winding-in when a bite is obtained. The guard comprises a frame, with flanges for attachment to the reel and cross-bars on which the metal rollers D , D are supported. The sides of the space through which the line passes can be protected against the cutting action of the line by means of rollers fitted vertically on each side of the frame. The Provisional Specification describes a guard consisting of a plate or strip formed with a hole for the passage of the line, the whole having a looselymounted roller situated transversely at its bottom end.
