Zusammenfassung: | 6233. Ferranti, S. Z. de, Garrard, C. C., and Clothier, H. W. March 13. Cut-outs.-Relates to the introduction of a timeelement in the operation of cut-outs, so that the circuit is not opened with a momentary abnormal current. The core of the controlling solenoid is connected to a dash-pot arranged to permit a slow movement at first and then to allow a free movement. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 1, the core 6 is connected to a vertically-sliding rod 2 linked to a beam 1, which is connected to a sliding block 9 locked to the plunger rod 10 of a dash-pot 11 by a detent lever 12. The arm 5 may be loosely connected to the rod 2 by an adjustabla nut 4, so that the core is allowed a slight free movement at first. It is then checked by the dash-pot until the free end of the lever 12 strikes an adjustable stop 13 and unlocks the block 9, allowing it to slide freely. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 2, the dash-pot has a constricted upper portion, the rate of movement of the plunger being adjusted by means of a valve or screw 14. The dash-pot may have an upper and lower enlarged part with a restricted part between. |
