Manufacture of Smokeless Coal Blocks

384. Pergeline, S. Jan, 6. Fuel.-Relates to the manufacture of briquettes. The briquettes are composed of small coal, mixed with mineral resin and coal tar or with one of them, and with or without the addition of nitrate of soda or desiccated carbonate of soda. The blocks when formed are placed in a furnace similar to that employed in the manufacture of charcoal, until all the volatile constituents have been expelled.
