Zusammenfassung:24,698. Crowdus, W. A. Dec. 4. Motor road vehicdes. - Relates to band brakes especially applicable to motor vehicles, but applicable also to any shaft which rotates in both directions. To the ends of the brake band 3 metal plates 5 are secured, such metal plates being made with lateral lugs 6 which, when the brake is released, rest at both sides against shoulders or ledges 7 on the fixed bracket 8. In this bracket is supported a shoe 10 furnished with rollers 11, which, by means of an eccentric 12, can be forced into contact with the brake strap so as to cause it to engage with the drum 2. Whenever this happens, the band winds up tightly on the drum, whichever way the shaft may be turning. The eccentric is operated by a rod 16, in which springs may be interposed so as to prevent a skidding pressure from being put on the brake.
