Zusammenfassung: | 24,696. Crowdus, W. A. Dec. 4. Motor road vehicles.-Relates to means for supporting the motor, and to the driving-gear, especially of electrically-propelled vehicles. Fig. 4 shows in plan a portion of a vehicle embodying the invention, and Fig. 5 shows in side elevation the same. The frame comprises a rear support A, a divided axle A , reach A , truss rods or struts A , and the brace A'. The motor B is preferably of the kind in which there are two armatures rotating in one field, one armature being geared to each section of the divided driving-axle. At the rear end, the motor is pivoted to the rear support A by means of brackets B', B', and at the front end it is supported between springs or rubber cushions b in a head B which is attached to the reach A . Each of the armature shafts is connected, by universal joints C , to a shaft carrying a worm C splined thereon and abutting at each end against springs which serve to take up shock and to enable an easy start to be effected. These worms gear respectively with the worm-wheels on the two parts of the divided axle. A brake drum is fitted to each of the worm-wheels, both drums being embraced by the same strap D. The worm gear is enclosed in casings F. A modification with a single-armature motor and mechanical balance gear is also shown. |
